Travis,STEREOPHONICS,Tom Jones, ALL SAINTS and ARTFUL DODGER were among the bands and musicians who won prizes at this year’s LOADED MAGAZINE awards.
The awards were held yesterday (May 8) at the Savoy Hotel in London, and were presented by comics Steve Coogan and Kathy Burke.
Stereophonics picked up the award for Best Band, with Travis receiving the award for Best Album, for last year’s ‘The Man Who’.
All Saints received the award for Single Of The Year for their Number One ‘Pure Shores’, which featured on the soundtrack to the film ‘The Beach’, while Tom Jones picked up the prize for the Carling Comeback, for last year’s ‘Reload’ album. The album featured collaborations with Stereophonics, The Cardigans and Cerys Matthews from Catatonia amongst others, and catapulted Jones back into the public eye.
Mark Morrison, the swingbeat artist who went to jail in 1998 for his part in a nightclub fight, was given the award for Rogue Of The Year, while Artful Dodger picked up a trophy for Top New Talent.
Other guests at the event included ex-EastEnders star Joe Absolom, former England football manager Terry Venables, Sara Cox, Richard Whiteley and Billie Piper, who received the ’21st Century Girl’ award.
