Fran Healy takes the time to take the piss out of David Beckham's mohican at the Glasgow Barrowland show...
TRAVIS played the first proper date of their brief UK tour last night (June 5) at GLASGOW BARROWLAND.
The date was a homecoming gig for the band, who’ve not played Scotland since last year’s T In The Park, and was attended by many of their family members.
Lead singer Fran Healy sported his now legendary blonde mohican, and again scathingly referred to England footballer David Beckham, who now sports a similar hairstyle.
Fran said: “His look’s shit now. It’s too thick!”
Fran also thanked the crowd for their help in making the band’s current single ‘Sing’ Number Three in the charts. He also confirmed that the band’s next single would be ‘Side’.
Other new songs taken from the band’s forthcoming album ‘The Invisible Band’ last night included ‘Dear Diary’, ‘Pipe Dreams’, ‘Flowers In The Window’, ‘The Cage’, ‘Safe’, ‘Follow The Light’ and ‘Last Train’. The album, Travis’ third, is out on Monday (June 11) through Independiente.
The band also ran through a host of old favourites last night, including ‘Happy’, ‘Driftwood’, ‘Writing To Reach You’, ‘Coming Around’, ‘Turn’ and’Blue Flashing Light’, the secret track from the band’s last album ‘The Man Who’.
However, the band failed to play their usual encore of Britney Spears‘ ‘…Baby One More Time’, and instead covered Mott The Hoople‘s ‘All The Young Dudes’, for which bassist Dougie Payne took lead vocals.
Travis now play the London Kentish Town Forum tonight (June 6) before heading off on tour with Dido in the US.
