The four-piece, hailed as 'Best Band in The World Today' earlier this week, are up for 'Best UK Act' at the American My VH1 Music Awards...

Travis, hailed as ‘Best Band In The World Today’ at the Q AWARDS yesterday (October 31) have been nominated for the title of ‘Best UK Act’ at the AmericanMY VH1 MUSIC AWARDS.

The Scottish stars are up against the Spice Girls, David Gray, Robbie Williams and Tom Jones for the award, which will be voted for exclusively by US viewers of music TV channel VH1.

Travis are currently trailing at joint third with Tom Jones, behind the Spice Girls and leader Robbie Williams. Williams was awarded the ‘Classic Songwriter Award’ at the Q ceremony, along with songwriting partner Guy Chambers. Voting takes place through [url=]www.vh1.com/mymusic. David Gray is also nominated for the ‘Best Kept Secret’ award.

British artists nominated in other awards are Sting in three categories. The former Police frontman is up for ‘Man of the Year’; ‘Legend in Action’ and the bizarre ‘You Want Fries With That? Album’ – for his advertising of Jaguar. British singer Dido, who is heavily sampled on Eminem‘s forthcoming single ‘Stan‘ is nominated in the ‘Best Kept Secret’ category.

Other notable categories in the awards are ‘Your Song Kicked Ass But Was Played Too Damn Much’; ‘Most Entertaining Public Feud’; ‘Double Threat (Musician’s-Actors); ‘Sexxxiest Video’ and ‘Pushing The Envelope Video’. More conventional categories such as ‘Song Of The Year’; ‘Group Of The Year’ and ‘Best Live Act’ are also included. All categories were suggested by viewers of VH1.

Voting is open up until the awards take place on Thursday November 30.
