Trent Reznor: ‘I’ll spend a good portion of 2012 writing for Nine Inch Nails’

Composer says he'll be returning to his roots next year

Trent Reznor has revealed that he plans to spend a “good portion” of 2012 working on material under his Nine Inch Nails moniker.

Reznor, who has recently been dedicated to composing the soundtrack for David Fincher’s The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo film, told BBC Radio One‘s Zane Lowe that he would be writing with Nine Inch Nails “in mind” next year.

Talking about his decision to work on other projects such as writing film scores and his other band, How To Destroy Angels, he said: “I need to commit to doing something different, and that doesn’t mean I’m not going to return to that [Nine Inch Nails] at some point.

“But I find myself pushed and pulled back into the same routine of album, tour, album, tour, album, tour, while a list of things I’d like to try and do in life sits untouched on the table.”

When asked if he intended to work as Nine Inch Nails again in the future, he replied:

For sure. I plan on spending a good portion of this year coming up writing with that in mind. Let’s see what happens.

In 2009, Reznor said that Nine Inch Nails would be winding down and no longer playing live, but earlier this year insisted the project was “not dead” and claimed he would be recording new material in the future.

He revealed the full tracklisting to his soundtrack for The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo earlier this week.
