The victim was shot at a Trevor Nelson-hosted night in Bournemouth...

The man shot at a TREVOR NELSON hosted MTV R&B event in the BOURNEMOUTH last week has died.

The victim, Glen Hodson, a 35-year-old soldier originally from London but living in Salisbury, died from his injuries in a hospital in Poole during the early hours of Saturday morning (December 15). He was shot once in the head 24 hours earlier in Bournemouth’s Elements club. Almost 3,000 people had gathered to be see Trevor Nelson at his Lick Party Night – one of a number of such shows that happen around the country promoting Nelson’s popular MTV R&B show ‘The Lick’.

Police say Hodson, known to friends as a “gentle giant”, appears to have been an innocent victim who found himself in the wrong place at the wrong time. A fight had started close to where he stood and he was tragically hit. A 20-year-old man from Surrey, who suffered slight injuries to his face from the same shot, is being treated as a witness. Police have said their enquiry into the shooting is still at an early stage and they have not yet established a motive.

MTV, who previously released a statement in which they said “Our thoughts and best wishes are with the injured and his family at this time,” were unavailable for further comment at press time.
