A Tribe Called Quest performed ‘Dis Generation’ and ‘We the People…’ on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Friday (December 9).
The hip-hop group released latest album ‘We Got It From Here, Thank You For Your Service’ last month. NME said of the album: “The group have not only honoured Phife’s legacy but have also succeeded in furthering their own iconic status.”

During the performance of ‘We The People…’, the group revealed a backdrop that depicted Phife as his verse played.
‘We Got It From Here…’ was made on the back of the momentum from ATCQ’s successful live comeback on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon in November 2015, with the group reuniting to record their first album together since 1998’s ‘The Love Movement’. After Phife’s passing in March, the group continued to finish the album, using rhymes and “the blueprint” left behind by the late MC.
In a new interview with Billboard, fellow founding member Q-Tip spoke about the future of ATCQ. Emphasising that the group would definitely disband for the final time in respect to Phife, Q-Tip said: “This is our last record, and we’ll probably do a world tour. After that, that’s it, for the rest of our lives.”
Q-Tip also spoke about the decision to finish ‘We Got It From Here’ after Phife passed.
“It was sensory overload,” the 46-year-old said about his fellow MC, who finished recording his parts for the album shortly before his death. “It was Phife who spearheaded this whole project — all we could do is make dope music and celebrate our man.”
