Tricky (left in photo) was involved in an attack on a music journalist at GLASTONBURY FESTIVAL following his performance on the Main Stage on Saturday.
According to onlookers, at around 11.45pm Tricky and a person who appeared to be his minder entered one of the hospitality tents backstage. Tricky was reportedly shadow-boxing as he walked in. Eye-witnesses say Tricky’s ‘minder’ approached the journalist and, in an unprovoked assault, punched him in the mouth. As the writer lay on the ground, Tricky kicked him in the head in view of a number of music industry guests.
Security from the Rock Steady company intervened and Tricky and the ‘minder’ were thrown out of the tent. Security guards told the journalist they would act as witnesses if he wanted to press charges, but the journalist declined.
Police were not called. The journalist – from a respected London magazine and who does not wish to be named – suffered a bruised and swollen lip. Tricky has made threats against several UK journalists recently over their reviews of his latest LP, ‘Angels With Dirty Faces’.
