Tweets posted by Sean Spicer about Daft Punk in 2014 have resurfaced since Donald Trump’s Press Secretary hit the headlines over the weekend.
Spicer, who became White House Press Secretary on Friday (January 20), told journalists in the briefing room that Trump’s inauguration in Washington, DC drew the “largest audience to ever witness an inauguration, period,” a boast that photographic evidence clearly contradicts.
Trump’s advisor Kellyanne Conway has since defended Spicer, saying the Press Secretary was simply giving “alternative facts”.
Now Consequence of Sound has rediscovered tweets sent by Spicer while Daft Punk – or “Daft Funk” as he referred to the French duo – were performing at the Grammy Awards in 2014.
“Daft Punk, this is your 10 seconds in the spotlight – u r blowing it,” Spicer wrote, before telling a follower that he “was an early and still fan, but come on helmets? tey (sic) need to grow up.”
