Holly Miranda, Theophilus London and a host of guest stars sign up for 'Maximum Balloon'
TV On The Radio guitarist/producer Dave Sitek has unveiled details a new star-studded solo project.
The knob-twiddler has enlisted Yeah Yeah Yeahs singer Karen O, TVOTR‘s Tunde Adebimpe and Kyp Malone, Yukimi Nagano from Little Dragon, Holly Miranda, Theophilus London and Dragons of Zynth’s Aku Orraca-Tetch for his debut album ‘Maximum Balloon’.
The 11-track record is due out on August 23, and was recorded at a studio in his LA home.
Of the record Sitek told NME.COM: “It is predominantly a dance record. The songs are really immediate and every one of them comes on real strong.”
He added: “I had total freedom when I was making this record so when I was recording it, it felt like I was putting everything into one basket and letting it float off into space.”
‘Tiger’, which is the first single to be lifted from the album and features Orraca-Tetch, has been made to available to download from today (June 15). To hear it go to www.MaximumBalloon.com.
“The whole album surprisingly came together from that one song,” explained Sitek. “We realised we could lay down a track as creatively as we wanted and we wouldn’t have to worry about our respective bands. That inspired me to work in the same way with the other singers.”
The video to the track also features fashion model Daisy Lowe, daughter of singer-songwriter Pearl Lowe and Bush singer Gavin Rossdale.
“That video is hilarious,” laughed Sitek. “I gave her an advance copy of the album and said, ‘Pick a song you’d like to dance to,’ and she loved that track so she started dancing and having fun to it.”
