U2’s Bono and The Edge for ‘American Idol’ finale

Manager Paul McGuinness says the pair will appear on talent show

U2‘s Bono and The Edge are set to appear on the final episode of American Idol this week.

The duo are currently touring the US with their band ahead of their forthcoming headline slot at Glastonbury on June 24, and will help close season 10 of the talent series on Wednesday (May 25).

It is unclear what their appearance on the Los Angeles-based talent show will entail, but manager Paul McGuinness told Billboard they are rehearsing for the show today (23). Their UK spokesperson told NME that they will be appearing alongside cast members from Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark, the musical they have helped score.

Before the singer and guitarist’s TV appearance U2 will continue their 360° tour at Salt Lake City‘s Rice-Eccles Stadium tomorrow (May 24).

U2 returned for a series of US dates kicking off at Denver‘s Invesco Field over the weekend after frontman Bono pulled the original dates last summer because of a back injury. They also axed what would have been the band’s first ever appearance at Glastonbury.

They will headline this year’s Glastonbury alongside Coldplay and Beyonce over the weekend of June 24-26.
