‘Hope For Haiti’ telethon to be broadcast in the UK

Bono, Christina Aguilera, Justin Timberlake set to feature in George Clooney-organised charity appeal

The Hope For Haiti telethon organised by actor George Clooney is to be broadcast across the world this week (January 22), it has been confirmed.

The two-hour television show is appealing for people to donate to Haiti, which was hit by a devastating earthquake on January 12. Hosted by Clooney in Los Angeles, Haitian-born Wyclef Jean in New York and CNN‘s Anderson Cooper in Haiti, the show will feature appearances from the likes of Bono, Justin Timberlake and Christina Aguilera.

It will be broadcast on MTV networks in North America on January 22 at 8pm (ET/PT) and on MTV UK at 1am (GMT) on January 23.

The programme is asking people to donate to Oxfam America, Partners in Health, Red Cross, UNICEF and Yele Haiti Foundation.

Micachu & the Shapes and Polar Bear are among acts set to play a London benefit show tomorrow (January 20) in aid of Haiti.
