The Irish rockers knock the superstar rapper off the top of the US Album Chart...

U2 have knocked EMINEM from the top of the American album charts.

The group’s latest album ’How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb’ followed its success in the UK by going straight to the top of the US charts, selling almost double the number of copies as their last album, 2000’s ’All That You Can’t Leave Behind’.

The album sold 840,000 copies, according to sales figures. The sale was big enough to end Eminem’s three-week stay at the top of the chart with his album ’Encore’.

‘How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb’ has also gone straight to Number 1 in 19 other major territories in the world – Canada, Mexico, Australia, New Zealand, Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland.
