BONO, Macy Gray and SHAGGY

are the first stars to confirm for a massive new year AIDS benefit show in South Africa, organised by NELSON MANDELA.

The gig, on February 2, will take place on Rodden Island, the tiny rocky outcrop off the coast of Cape Town were Mandela was imprisoned for his anti-apartheid stand for almost 20 years.

Other huge stars who have also been approached to play includeMichael Jackson, Sting, Bruce Springsteen, Bob Dylan, Elton John and [a][/a].

An audience of 3,000 will watch the show, which will called ‘Mandela SOS’.

Bono has been a vocal AIDS campaigner for a number of years, lobbying governments and big business in an attempt to draw attention to, and raise funds to fight, the pandemic which is tearing through Africa.
