The place where the band recorded 'All That You Can't Leave Behind' will soon be no more...

U2 have failed in their bid to keep bulldozers away from a DUBLIN studio they have recorded in since 1994.

A compulsory purchase order has been placed on the studio and nearby buildings in the Hanover Quay area of Dublin Docklands by the Docklands Development Authority. The plan was green-lighted this morning (June 17) despite U2‘s opposition. The band argued the studio was part of Dublin’s musical heritage.

According to RTE, the Development Authority have said the row of buildings has to be demolished so that the public can access the waterways from a civic amenity area it is developing nearby.

U2 recorded recent album ‘All That You Can’t Leave Behind’ in the studio. Previous to 1994, they recorded mostly in Windmill Studios.
