The rockers play an unprecedented second night at the 80,000-capacity venue...

U2 have finally announced they will play an unprecedented second show at SLANE CASTLE later this summer, as revealed by NME.COM over a week ago.

The Irish giants will play at the 80,000 capacity natural amphitheatre, just north of Dublin, on September 1. The show will come a week a week after their already sold-out August 25 show at the same venue.

Amongst the acts confirmed as support on the second day are Moby, Foo Fighters and Nelly Furtado.

Tickets for the show are going on sale immediately. They will be limited to four per person. Tickets for the first Slane show sold out within minutes when they went on sale in March. Demand amongst fans led to mini-riots in Dublin.

Despite intervention from the Irish government, the future of the second show had hung in the balance, depending on permission from Meath County Council and local residents.

Tickets will cost £39.50 including £3.00 booking fee at Ticketmaster HMV in Dublin and £41.00 including £4.50 booking fee elsewhere.
