U2 are to play an NME Carling Show on February 7 according to a report in today’s Sun newspaper. This follows intense speculation over the past two days that U2 are to play an intimate show in London.

The Sun reports that U2 are to play the London Astoria on February 7 – the day after the NME Carling Awards.

The newspaper quotes a ‘source close to the band’ as saying: “They were keen to play an intimate venue – they did one in New York recently and it went down extremely well. It will be a stripped down show for the die-hard fans.”

Speculation on a possible venue has included the Astoria, Scala, Brixton Academy and Kentish Town Forum.
