U2 GET BEHIND NEW ALBUM

The band reveal plans to take to the road in support of new album 'All That You Can't Leave Behind'...

U2 plan to embark on a small tour of indoor arenas in the US next year.

Speaking to U2[/a] drummer Larry Mullen said the dates would be a way to “take it easy and see how the land lies”.

In comparison to their most recent ‘Zoo TV’ and ‘Popmart’ tours, the band hope to play indoor venues. Speaking about the Popmart tour, vocalist Bono said: “It was all about reaching out to the audience, keeping an open heart. (This time) we’re going to have some fun, go indoors for the first time in years.”

A spokesperson for U2 in the UK told nme.com that UK dates are yet to be confirmed.

U2 release their new single, ‘Beautiful Day’, on October 9 through Island. The single will feature two new B-sides, ‘Summer Rain’ and ‘Always’, as well as versions of ‘Discotheque’ and ‘If You Wear That Velvet Dress’ recorded live in Mexico City. Both featured on the band’s last album ‘Pop’.

The single will be followed by a new album, ‘All That You Can’t Leave Behind’ in late October, also through Island.The LP was produced by Brian Eno and Daniel Lanois.

Speaking about the new album, Mullen added: “We went into the record like it was Tamla Motown. It was an exciting record to make, and it should be exciting to take on the road.”
