U2 will finally broadcast a live performance from their 1997/98 ‘POP MART’ world tour as a free Internet webcast starting on June 8.

The show can be viewed for three weeks at [url=]www.U2.burst.com.

In an interview with Reuters press agency, guitarist Dave ‘The Edge’ Evans explained why it took so long to put footage from the concerts on the web, saying: “The band purposely waited to premiere ‘Pop Mart’ on the net until there was technology available that could match the tour’s cutting-edge visual staging and audio dynamic.”

A spokesman said details will be confirmed in the next few days of which concert will be broadcast. It will serve as a teaser for the band’s as-yet untitled forthcoming album, which has been tentatively slated for an early autumn release.

The album will be the band’s tenth studio record, following 1997’s ‘Pop’.
