Usher’s ex-wife handed an emergency custody meeting after son nearly drowns in Atlanta

Tameka Foster Raymond is now seeking full custody of five-year-old Usher Raymond V

Usher‘s ex-wife has been handed an emergency custody meeting following an incident earlier this week in which their five-year-old son nearly drowned in a swimming pool.

As reported, Usher’s five-year-old son was rushed to hospital on August 6 having nearly drowned in a pool at at the R&B singer’s home. It is believed that Usher Raymond V fell to the bottom of the private pool and became stuck in the drain. Atlanta police spokesman Carlos Campos said that a housekeeper tried to retrieve the infant, but was unable to free him.

This has led to Tameka Foster Raymond, the boy’s mother, being granted an emergency custody meeting. Sky News reports that Foster Raymond is alleging that her son was left unsupervised by his father prior to what she is calling “a near-death accident”. Foster Raymond also says Usher leaves their children with others when he travels around the world and that he has failed to discuss issues affecting the children with her.

Usher and his ex-wife’s son was eventually pulled free by two workmen at the home, one of whom performed CPR. The child was “conscious, alert and breathing”, Campos reported, when paramedics arrived shortly before 4pm.

Usher Raymond V is one of two sons Usher has with former wife, who has primary custody of both boys. Nearly a year ago, Foster Raymond lost her 11-year-old son Kile Glover, who died after being critically injured in a boating accident on Lake Lanier, near Atlanta.
