Usher has quit ’Chicago’ due to a throat infection.
The singer was starring as Billy Flynn in the Broadway production of the musical.
Usher was due to leave on October 15 but has not been in ’Chicago’ for a week.
Usher’s manager Jonnetta Patton explained his absence saying: “Usher has had an amazing time on Broadway and loved every minute of performing on stage with the entire cast of ‘Chicago’.
“He expresses his sincere apologies to all of his fans who purchased tickets to see him in ‘Chicago’ this final week and appreciates all of their love and support. “
However the show has backed the start with producer Barry Weissler explaining: “Usher has found a new home on Broadway and is welcome back anytime.”
He is set to be replaced by the actor Christopher McDonald.
