Vampire Weekend set to leave hospital

Chris Tomson expects to be discharged today (Feb 29)

Vampire Weekend’s Chris Tomson hopes to be released from hospital today (February 29) after being involved in a car accident after the Shockwaves NME Awards.

The drummer was involved in a collision with a car outside Hoxton Hotel in London at an awards after party.

According to Tomson, he was hit around 12.30am (GMT) by a vehicle that did not stop.

Tomson was taken to the Royal London Hospital where he was kept in overnight and was treated for head and neck injuries.

However Vampire Weekend’s spokesperson told NME.COM that he had spoken to the drummer this morning and that he was awake and was hoping to be discharged this afternoon.

However the band will have to cancel their Rough Trade East instore this evening.

The injury follows a bad patch for the band which saw forced to drop out of two shows this week due to keyboard Rostam Batmanglij – who also missed the awards – being struck down with a gastric infection.
