Rostam Batmanglij of Vampire Weekend has released a new solo rack. Scroll down to hear ‘EOS’ now.
The musician and producer, who has also worked with Charli XCX, Carly Rae Jepsen and Ra Ra Riot in addition to his time in Vampire Weekend, says the track is inspired by a photograph he took while traveling in Jaisalmer, India.
‘EOS’ is available to download now and will be released on 7″ in February. The song’s animated video can be seen below.
Speaking to Pitchfork about his music in a new interview, Batmanglij offered an update on the next Vampire Weekend album. The band’s guitarist said that it’s “too early” to talk about the record but did add: “I’m always making beats, and when I can hear Ezra singing on one of them in my head, I send it to him. That’s one of the ways that we’ve always worked together.”
On his hopes for the album and rumours the band could change their sound on their next album, he added: “I would hope to make a record that interacts with culture in a macro sense. That is something to aspire to.”
Vampire Weekend released their third album ‘Modern Vampires Of The City’ in 2013. Since then members of the band have pursued collaborative projects outside of the group, most notably frontman Ezra Koenig working with Karen O and Major Lazer. Bassist Chris Baio also released a solo album in 2015.
Speaking last year, Koenig said a fourth Vampire Weekend album will happen, though an arrival date is some way off. He also suggested that older material that was deemed not right for previous albums could make its way onto album number four.
