They hadn't posted to the platform for five years
Vampire Weekend returned to Instagram for the first time in five years last night (May 25).
The band are gearing up to release a new album and while the images don’t give too much away, they could point to the direction of their new music.
Three images were posted, depicting a broken TV, a fleece jumper and a sticker on the back windshield of a car. Frontman Ezra Koenig also posted a video to his personal account, writing, “Follow @vampireweekend.” You can see the posts below.
The band made their live return with a surprise LA appearance last month. Aside from some performances at Bernie Sanders rallies in 2016, it marked their first live show since appearing on the main stage at Reading & Leeds in 2014.
Their new album currently has the working title ‘Mitsubishi Macchiato’. Koenig told a fan on Twitter in September 2017 that the record was “80% done but the last 20% is always the hardest”.
They’ve also some festival dates for this summer. They’ll be appearing at Australia’s Splendour In The Grass currently their first proper show back. They will also play at Fuji Rock in Japan, Chicago’s Lollapalooza, and Salisbury’s End Of The Road.
