Today’s new releases: Madonna, Nate Mendel of Foo Fighters and more

Plus; new albums from Cancer Bats, Matthew E. White, Pearson Sound and Marc Almond

Madonna and Lieutenant, the side project of Foo Fighters’ bassist Nate Mendel, lead this week’s new releases.

Madonna releases ‘Rebel Heart’, her 13th studio album. A number of songs from the album were leaked in December 2014, an incident Madonna called “artistic rape” and “a form of terrorism” at the time. The leak led to the rush release of six songs from the album on iTunes days later.

Since then it has been reported that Israeli police had arrested a 39-year-old man suspected of hacking into Madonna’s computer and leaking her new album. The arrest was made following a month-long investigation by the cyber crime unit of Israel’s Lahav 433 branch (an organisation comparable to the FBI) and a private investigation firm.

The finished album features production from Kanye West, Avicii and Diplo plus appearances from Nicki Minaj, Chance The Rapper and Mike Tyson.

‘Rebel Heart’ tracklist:

‘Living For Love’
‘Devil Pray’
‘Ghost Town’
‘Unapologetic Bitch’
‘Illuminati’
‘Bitch I’m Madonna’ feat. Nicki Minaj
‘Hold Tight’
Joan Of Arc’
‘Iconic’ Feat. Chance The Rapper and Mike Tyson
‘HeartBreakCity’
‘Body Shop’
‘Holy Water’
‘Inside Out’
‘Wash All Over Me’

Meanwhile, Lieutenant’s debut album ‘If I Kill This Thing We’re All Going To Eat For A Week’ is also released today.

The album is the first from Nate Mendel, who recorded the album alongside his day job as bass player in Foo Fighters. ‘If I Kill This Thing We’re All Going To Eat For A Week’ can be streamed in full via NME.COM where you can also read an interview with Mendel in which he reveals now is as good as a time as any to release the record.

“I’d always wanted to explore but the timing was never right,” he says. “There’s never a right time! Schedules are always packed. There are always other commitments. So it was important I just bit the bullet and did this. Or maybe I never would.”

There are also new records from Cancer Bats, Matthew E. White, Pearson Sound and Marc Almond while Laura Welsh releases her eagerly anticipated debut.
