Bassist Jim Riley says the condition of band and crew has 'improved'
The Ghost Inside‘s bassist Jim Riley has told fans that the condition of band and crew members injured in their recent fatal bus crash has “improved”.
The metalcore band’s tour bus driver was killed in the accident, after their vehicle was involved in a collision with a truck as they travelled from Texas to Phoenix near El Paso, where they recently performed. The driver of the other vehicle also died in the crash.
All of the band and crew members escaped but the band’s drummer, Andrew Tkaczyk, was seriously injured in the crash.
Riley has since posted this update on his Facebook page. He wrote: “Hey all. Jim here offering a quick update. The last 48 hours have seen everyone’s condition improve. We are surrounded by lots of loved ones and the vibe today is very positive. Asking again that you keep sending good juju our way and keep the families of the two drivers that lost their lives in your thoughts. It will be a few more days before we share any individual details. If you’ve seen any of the pictures that are floating around you know the serious nature of the situation and hope you understand the need for a little privacy and discretion. The doctors here are phenomenal and we are in the most capable of hands. Thank you thank you thank you for the love and support. Life is swinging hard. We are swinging harder.”
All remaining US dates of their Locals Only Tour have been cancelled following the crash.
A GoFundMe fundraising campaign was set up for the band following the accident, noting that the band’s bus driver was a father and they “hope to help cover his funeral expenses”.
