Drenge, Wiley and more also announced for the Isle of Wight festival
Comedy duo the Chuckle Brothers have been announced for music festival Bestival.
This year’s Bestival takes place at Robin Hill Country Park on the Isle of Wight, from September 10-13. Having recently collaborated on a charity single with rapper Tinchy Stryder. The track ‘To Me, To You (Bruv)’ was released in October 2014 to raise money for the African Caribbean Leukaemia Trust.
Now, the pair – known by their stage names Barry Chuckle and Paul Chuckle – will play Bestival, with the festival’s organiser Rob Da Bank saying in a statement about the news: “With so many identikit festivals about with similar acts and bills I’m proud that 12 years on we don’t go with the flow. Perhaps, just perhaps, you’ll be singing ‘to me, to you, to me, to you’ whilst dancing in a pair of ill-fitting tropical shorts to the Chuckle Brothers.”
Also announced for this year’s Bestival are Drenge, Wiley, Skepta, DJ Yoda, Dodgy and more.
Bestival will “return to its roots” this year with the theme “Summer of Love”. The Chemical Brothers, Mark Ronson, Skrillex, Four Tet, Tame Impala, Duran Duran, Flying Lotus, Jurassic 5, Jamie xx, Gorgon City, Little Dragon, Future Islands and more will perform, with Muse’s Matt Bellamy recently hinting that his band will headline the event also.
The Chuckle Brothers met Tinchy Stryder when they all appeared on Keith Lemon’s ITV show Celebrity Juice. The Chuckle Brothers’ manager Phil Dale said of how the team-up came about: “Tinchy grew up with the Chuckle brothers and has been a longtime fan of theirs, so after that he invited them to his London studio.”
He continued: “It was just a bit of fun to see what could happen because they really got on with each other. Then they came back and filmed the video. You couldn’t put it together if you tried but it was just the very fact that they were having fun with Tinchy, and he was having fun with them and they got on like a house on fire. They still contact each other all the time.”
