Haim and Weezer to form supergroups for Jimmy Kimmel

Weezer and ZZ Top will become 'Wee-Z Top' as part of 'Mash Up Mondays'

Haim and Morris Day & The Time, and Weezer and ZZ Top, are to form supergroups for a new series on Jimmy Kimmel Live!

The show, entitled Mash Up Mondays, will put together two acts to form a one-off supergroup each week. The first acts announced are “Wee-Z Top” (Weezer and ZZ Top), “Morris Day and the HAIM” (Morris Day & The Time and Haim) and “Aloe Blaccstreet” (Aloe Black and Blackstreet). The shows will air on February 2, 9 and 16 respectively.

Earlier this month, Haim began work on their second album with producer Ariel Rechtshaid. The band’s debut album ‘Days Are Gone’ reached Number One in the UK on its release in September 2013. Keyboardist Alana Haim said last summer: “This is the first time we’ve ever written on the road. We’re going home in a month to start recording. I promise record two won’t come in six years, it’ll come very soon.”

Weezer released their ninth studio album ‘Everything Will Be Alright In The End’ in October, when they offered fans the chance to select from three tracks on the record to be their next single. The band’s singer River Cuomo recently appeared on pop supergroup McBusted’s album, which was released in December.
