Jay Z, Meek Mill and Action Bronson lead tributes to rapper Chinx, shot dead aged 31

The Coke Boys star was killed in New York on Sunday (May 17)

A host of hip-hop stars have paid tribute to the late rapper Chinx, who passed away over the weekend.

The Coke Boys rapper was shot and killed in Queens, New York early on Sunday (May 17). The 31-year-old – real name Lionel Pickens – was hit multiple times in the body as he drove his Porsche down Queens Boulevard at around 4am local time. A 27-year-old passenger travelling with Chinx was also shot twice in the back and critically wounded. The shooter fired from a second car, fleeing the scene as the victim’s vehicle came to a stop. The wounded person is in critical but stable condition at Jamaica Hospital.

Now, the likes of Jay-Z, Action Bronson, The Weeknd, Wiz Khalifa, French Montana, Meek Mill, Travi$ Scott and more have offered their condolences.

At his second free Tidal concert in New York on Sunday night, Jay Z spared a moment for Chinx. “[A] young man got killed in Queens named Chinx. We are seriously under attack like never before. Rest in peace to Chinx. And we still killing each other. We need to understand that we are kings and queens.” Watch in the video below.

Meanwhile, Meek Mill and Travi$ Scott have released a tribute song dedicated to Chinx, called ‘Miss My Dawgs’. Check that out below, along with a collection of tweets reacting to Chinx’s passing.

Chinx, a close associate of French Montana who signed the MC to his Coke Boys imprint, was preparing to release his debut studio album ‘Welcome To JFK’ this year.
