Track taken from singer's recent album 'Jackie'
Today is Mother’s Day in the US and to celebrate, Ciara has released a new video for the song ‘I Got You’, a tribute to her baby boy Future. Click above to watch.
The track is taken from the recently-released album ‘Jackie’, which itself is named after Ciara’s own mother. This new clip opens with footage of the singer’s parents shouting with joy as she tells them she’s six months pregnant with their first grandbaby before transitioning into a montage of photographs and footage of mum and baby in the hospital, playing in a swimming pool and hanging in the studio.
Ciara recently spoke to Fuse about why she dedicated the album to her mother. “I was inspired to title album ‘Jackie’ because now, being a new mom, I know what it’s like to be in her shoes and see things from her eyes,” she said. “It was the most fitting thing to mark this really special time of my life an walking into motherhood and womanhood at the same time. In a sense, I am a mini Jackie.”
Released on May 1, the LP features collaborations with Dr Luke, Polow da Don, and The Underdogs, as well as guest spots from Pitbull and long-time Ciara cohort Missy Elliott. Included is the single ‘I Bet’, which caused a little bit of a stir recently when Usher producer Jermaine Dupri claimed it was “a complete rip-off” of ‘U Got It Bad’.
“I’m clear on what I made and I’m clear on how music influences people and I’m clear on chord changes and how people move things…It might not be as evident as the ‘Blurred Lines’ situation, but I believe the same thing happened to me,” said Dupri, who co-produced ‘U Got It Bad’ in 2001 with Bryan-Michael Cox.
Dupri also compared ‘I Bet’ – which was produced by Harmony ‘H-Money’ Samuels and Chris ‘TEK’ O’Ryan – to another song he and Cox produced: R&B singer Tamia’s 2004 track ‘Still’.
