Hot Chocolate’s Errol Brown dies, aged 71

Singer behind hits including 'You Sexy Thing' had been suffering from liver cancer

Hot Chocolate lead singer Errol Brown has died aged 71, his manager has confirmed.

BBC News reports that Brown, who had hits including ‘You Sexy Thing’, ‘It Started With A Kiss’ and ‘I Believe in Miracles’, had been suffering from liver cancer.

Phil Dale, Brown’s manager, paid tribute to “a wonderful gentleman” and said: “There was always music around wherever he was. I’ve been with him in the middle of Australia and he has got an idea for a song and started writing.”

Brown was made an MBE by the Queen in 2003 and is survived by his wife and two children. Brown married wife Ginette in 1974 and they had two daughters, Leonie and Colette.

He received the Ivor Novello award for his outstanding contribution to British music in 2004.
