Released as part of Rookie‘s ‘Theme Song’ series, the 18-year-old Northern Ireland artist – real name Bridie Monds-Watson – took time to speak to the site about her appreciation of the track’s songwriter, Annie Clark.
“I just really like her. She’s cool,” said Monds-Watson. “I listened to her at Electric Picnic, which is a festival in Ireland, but I didn’t really get into her until later on. She’s really good and kind of weird. I like music that’s entertaining and you can’t tell what the next line is gonna be. She just makes things that are really interesting, and you can hear something new each time you listen. It’s really well-textured.”
SOAK is preparing to release her debut album ‘Before We Forgot How To Dream’, which will come out on June 1 via Rough Trade. The LP will include last year’s singles ‘B a noBody’, ‘Blud’ and ‘Shuvels’, as well as ‘Sea Creatures’, which was unveiled in February. The singer’s scheduled to appear at Brighton festival The Great Escape later this month.
