BRIT Awards announce shortlist for 2015 Critics’ Choice Award

James Bay, Years & Years and George the Poet are in line for the prize

James Bay, Years & Years and George the Poet have been announced as the nominees for the BRIT Awards 2015 Critics’ Choice Award.

The eventual winner of the award will be announced on December 4 ahead of next year’s ceremony, which will take place on February 25, 2015 at London’s O2 Arena.

James Bay, 24, (Pictured above) hails from Hitchin and released his previous EP ‘Hold Back The River’ earlier this month.

London synth-pop trio Years & Years (pictured right) formed in 2010 and have since released three EPs including this year’s ‘Take Shelter’.

George The Poet is a spoken word artist from North-West London who released ‘The Chicken And The Egg EP’ – written about “premature parenthood” – earlier in 2014.

The nominees are decided by a panel of industry experts. Candidates are eligible for inclusion if they are signed to a record label and will release their debut album in 2015.

The category was introduced in 2008 when it was awarded to Adele. Since then, winners of the title have included Florence & The Machine, Jessie J and, most recently, Sam Smith.
