Hozier and Vance Joy also appear on single in aid of Breast Cancer Research Foundation
‘Boob Spelled Backwards Is Boob’, the charity single featuring Noel Gallagher, Hozier and Florence Welch, is available to stream now. Scroll down to hear the track.
As reported, the single is the brainchild of Irish DJ Greg McQuaid, who hosts a radio show on KFOG FM in California and will be released on Thursday (October 1) in aid of the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.
The song features vocals from Hozier, Florence Welch, Noel Gallagher, Vance Joy, Elle King, Graham Nash and the Grateful Dead. Lyrics to the song were written by Eight-year old Archer Nelson, whose mother was diagnosed with breast cancer and whose father worked alongside McQuaid at KFOG.
The accompanying video uses footage of the artists performing the song cut with clips of women in various stages of treatment for breast cancer. All money raised from the sale of the song and donations will go to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. For more information visit kfog.com/boobproject
“Getting Hozier was really huge. When you have one of the biggest artists on the planet involved, convincing others to contribute becomes a lot easier,” McQuaid told the Herald.
“We recorded his part back in April. He didn’t have time to come by the radio station so we recorded him at the Masonic where he was playing three sold-out shows.
“It was cute because his tour manager and road crew were all walking around backstage singing the chorus as we were trying to record it.”
