Jimmy Kimmel trolls SXSW music fans again by asking their thoughts on fake bands

Fans give their views on 'Mary Kate and Nasty', 'Vlad & The Putins' and 'DJ Fictionale'

US TV host Jimmy Kimmel has aired another instalment of ‘Lie Witness News’, in which a reporter encourages gullible members of the public to lie about fictitious things.

This week’s edition was filmed at Austin’s South By South West music festival, following on from a similar clip at Coachella back in 2013. In it, the reporter asks fans about fake bands such as Russian funk outfit ‘Vlad & The Putins’, ‘DJ Fictionale’, ‘Mary Kate and Nasty’ and more. One unassuming fan is even asked if he can ‘tolerate DJ Gluten’. Watch below.

SXSW Festival is running in Austin, Texas until March 22.

Earlier this week, rap duo Run The Jewels were attacked on stage during their performance at the festival.

During their show at Spotify House, a man walked onto the stage mid-set and seemingly attempted to punch rapper Killer Mike. El-P later tweeted: “thanks to everyone who watched us rock the @Spotify house! sorry for the brief interruption.”

The duo and their security removed the man from the stage, but reports and video footage suggests that he then attempted to fight members of the audience. “Your mamma should be ashamed you were born,” said Mike of the attacker, before leading the crowd in a chant of “fuck boy”.

Meanwhile, Henry Rollins called his acting career a ‘punk rock fraud’ before the SXSW premiere of new film ‘He Never Died’.

“Thankfully the script was really strong,” he commented of the new movie. “It’s called He Never Died and it’s about a man who cannot die and he’s bored, because he’s done everything and eternity’s a drag!”
