Bassist of Argentine band among dead in Germanwings plane crash

Gabriela Lujan Maumus of Asalto Al Parque Zoologico was among the 150 killed

An Argentine musician was among those who died in the recent Germanwings plane crash in the Alps.

The flight from Barcelona to Dusseldorf came down over the mountains in the south of France on Tuesday (March 24), killing all 150 on board. It has been reported that the co-pilot “intentionally” attempted to crash the plane.

As BBC News report, among the dead was Gabriela Lujan Maumus, 28, the bassist for Argentine shoegaze band Asalto Al Parque Zoologico. Maumus had been scheduled to play with the band in La Boca, Bueno Aires on Sunday (March 29).

The band posted a statement on Facebook confirming the news. In it, they write: “We’ve been hit hard by the loss of Gabo and Sebastian… She was a cheerful girl, sweet, kind, polite, intelligent… We will miss you truly”.

A fan of the band wrote: “Gabo, we have never met. However, I learnt about your nice qualities through my husband, David! He is extremely saddened that you have departed this life. Indeed, your passing is tragic; but we will continue to honour your spirit by holding your good works in our heart.”

Maumus was on the flight with her boyfriend Sebastian Gabriel Greco, also 28, who also died.
