Truck ploughed into a crowd in the French city, killing 84 people

The music and film world has reacted to the news of a suspected terror attack in the French city of Nice.

On Thursday night (July 14), a truck ploughed into a crowd celebrating Bastille Day in the southern city. The crash left 84 people dead and 18 others seriously injured. The driver of the truck was later shot dead by police. Reports suggest that the incident is being treated as a terror attack.

Following the news, the hashtag #prayforNice has trended on Twitter, with many celebrities expressing their sadness.

Lady Gaga wrote, “I am praying for you France. When u open your eyes and see chaos, we will close our eyes and see harmony. We are with you.”

Blood Orange – aka Dev Hynes – added, “So sad, and so tragic, my heart goes out to the people of Nice”

Actress Jennifer Lawrence tweeted, “Tragic and sad news once again, thoughts and prayers with all the victims and their families”

Meanwhile, Disclosure revealed that they had been in Nice earlier in the day, “Thoughts with everyone affected by the horrific scenes in Nice, France. We were just there this morning.. Can’t believe it!”
