The Black Keys and The Prodigy to headline Isle Of Wight Festival 2015

Pharrell Williams also added to bill for next year's event

The Black Keys and The Prodigy will co-headline The Isle Of Wight Festival 2015.

The two bands will perform on the Friday night of next year’s event. Their announcement follows the news that Fleetwood Mac will close the festival, which runs between 11-14 June at Seaclose Park, Newport, Isle of Wight.

In addition to The Black Keys and The Prodigy, it has also been announced that Pharrell Williams will play next year’s Isle Of Wight Festival. Speaking to NME about the Friday night headliners, John Giddings said that booking Biffy Clyro and Calvin Harris for the 2014 festival proved so popular they were keen to replicate the success.

“The combination of rock and dance was really successful, on the Friday everyone likes to kick it off with a bang and go wild,” said Giddings.

“We’ve had The Prodigy before, and they’re one of the best shows we’ve ever had. In terms of rock bands in the world today, I think that The Black Keys and Royal Blood are two of the best out there. I’ve seen Pharrell many times this year; I was in Abu Dhabi with him last Saturday and he’s one of the best performers out there. I’ve known him for 15 years and the success he’s had in the last 18 months, is absolutely incredible.”

The Prodigy, who are currently working on their next studio album, said: “We are psyched to be playing at the Isle of Wight Festival 2015, we’ll be bringing the new noise… bring it on!”

Meanwhile, Patrick Carney of The Black Keys added: “The Isle of Wight Festival has so much history and we are really pleased to have been invited to headline in 2015 and look forward to being part of such great rock and roll heritage.”

A third headline to join Fleetwood Mac and the double bill of The Black Keys and The Prodigy will be announced shortly.
