Video part of new series by fashion website MyTheresa.com
Alexa Chung has performed a cover of Stevie Nicks’ 1994 hit ‘Blue Denim’ as part of a series of music video releases by fashion website MyTheresa.com.
The video, directed by Gia Coppola (Francis Ford Coppola’s grandaughter), features Chung performing the song on a karaoke machine at a house party while onlookers plead with her to stop. It aims to promote the fashion icon’s new denim collection Alexa Chung for AG, which is to be launched soon.
The track itself was recorded and produced in New York by Dev Hynes, aka Blood Orange. The New Yorker also produced the latest single from London indie band Spector in lieu of their as-yet-untitled forthcoming second album. The song, entitled ‘Don’t Make Me Try’ is Spector’s first output since standalone single ‘Decades Of Decay’ and their debut 2012 LP ‘Enjoy It While It Lasts’.
Hynes made headlines last summer when he claimed that he and his girlfriend were assaulted by security at Lollapazoola festival in Chicago. In a series of tweets, Hynes said he was thrown to the ground by three security guards following Blood Orange’s mid-afternoon set at Chicago’s Grant Park. The festival later issued a statement expressing their desire to “resolve the situation”.
