Daphne & Celeste return with Max Tundra-produced comeback single ‘You And I Alone’ – listen

It's their first new track in 15 years

Late 90s/early 00s duo Daphne & Celeste have returned with their first single in 15 years.

The bubblegum pop pair released their most famous hit ‘Ooh Stick You’ in September 1999, reaching Number Eight in the UK Singles Chart. Their debut album ‘We Didn’t Say That!’ was released in June 2000 but only made it to #140 in the UK.

Their new track ‘You And I Alone’ was helmed by British producer Max Tundra, who has worked with the likes of Franz Ferdinand, The Strokes and The Futureheads. Listen below.

NME‘s Laura Snapes writes of the track: “It’s a glitchy, juddering, low-key pop song where the duo sing disquietingly about cryptic long-distance communications before breaking into a surrealist rap that cites Pink Floyd’s ‘Piper At The Gates Of Dawn’, Joni Mitchell’s ‘Court & Spark’ and 1980s kids’ TV show Educating Marmalade.”

Celeste Cruz told NME: “We don’t really know what will happen but our intention was to have a good time. When we were approached with the song we were like, ‘does this sound like it’s gonna be fun?’ And it genuinely did. I’m hoping that people can feel that vibe and have a good time with it.”
