Tame Impala challenging Years & Years for Number One spot in Official Album Chart

Little Mix on course to retain the top position in Official Singles Chart

Tame Impala could reach Number One in the Official UK Album Chart this week, with only Years & Years standing between them and the top spot.

‘Currents’ by the Australian band was released on Friday (July 17) and is at Number Two at the time of writing (July 20), one position behind the current chart-topper from Years & Years.

That band went straight to Number One with their debut ‘Communion’ last week. Official Chart Company data shows there is currently just 2,000 sales between the two acts.

Also new in the Top 10 at today’s midweek point is Nick Jonas’ self-titled solo album (Number Eight), while US singer-songwriter Jason Isbell is on course to crack the UK Top 40 for the first time with his fifth album ‘Something More Than Free’ new at Number 10.

Meanwhile, former X-Factor finalist Andrea Faustini is currently just outside today’s Top 10 at Number 11 with debut album ‘Kelly’.

Little Mix’s reign at Number One in the Official Single Chart could extend to a second week with ‘Black Magic’ ahead of its nearest rival, ‘Are You With Me’ by Lost Frequencies.

5 Seconds of Summer could land their fourth UK Top 10 this week with ‘She’s Kinda Hot’. The song is currently at Number Six. Calvin Harris, meanwhile, is likely to notch up a 19th Top 10 single with ‘How Deep Is Your Love’, which is currently at Number Eight. The track is Harris’ first brand new material since the release of his fourth album ‘Motion’ last year.

The full chart rundown is announced on BBC Radio 1 this Friday (July 24).
