Music world reacts to publication of the Chilcot Report

Musicians give their views on the verdict

Today has seen the long-awaited publication of the Chilcot Report into the circumstances surrounding the lead-up to the 2003 Iraq War.

The inquiry has published a 12 volume report that has been in the making since 2009. According to reports, it has found that the UK joined the US-led invasion before all peaceful option had been exhausted and that former Prime Minister Tony Blair had exaggerated the threat posed by Saddam Hussein.

Since its publication, a number of figures from around the music world have been tweeting their response to the news.

Enter Shikari frontman Rou Reynolds wrote that “The circumstances in which Blair decided there was a legal basis for war were far from satisfactory” and “Blair’s disgraceful lies are being confirmed”.

Reverend And The Makers, meanwhile, tweeted that current Labour leader and anti-war campaigner Jeremy Corbyn “of course told you all this at the time”.
