Rough Trade are advertising their New York City store as an Airbnb

The Williamsburg store has partnered with Sonos to offer a unique Airbnb listing

Rough Trade are offering customers the opportunity to stay in their New York City store as part of a new partnership with Sonos and Airbnb.

The store, which is located in the Williamsburg area of Brooklyn, first opened in 2013, where it became the iconic indie label’s first foray into the record store business in the US.

As Pitchfork reports, the Williamsburg store will now be advertised as an Airbnb listing for a new competition. On selected Friday and Saturday nights during the months of October and November, the store will become available to two competition winners, who will be staying in the special ‘Sonos Listening Room’.

The winners will also have access to the “vintage-inspired lounge” of the Listening Room, where they can peruse and play their favourite vinyl records on a Sonos home sound system while reclining in “mid-century modern furnishings.” There will also be an exclusive collection of out-of-print New York music zines, as well as the opportunity to have Rough Trade employees curate a special playlist of the winners’ favourite bands to welcome them upon arrival. A stocked mini-fridge, containing snacks from the local Brooklyn area, will also be available, while the listing encourages the winners to “invite all their friends” to party – though all non-competition winners must vacate the premises by 2am.

Upon leaving the store the next morning, the winners will be able to partake in their own private shopping spree of the store before vacating.
