Ed Sheeran tweeted to ask for one of her awards because he is 'overweight'
Reclusive singer-songwriter Sia picked up four prizes at Australia’s Aria Awards on Wednesday (November 26), but angered fans by not showing up to collect them.
The Australian was the biggest homegrown winner on the night, collecting Best Female Artist, Best Pop Release, Best Music Video and Album Of The Year. The four awards were accepted by a single video link, leading to a storm of criticism on Twitter.
Responding yesterday, Sia tweeted to say she made four acceptance videos but only one was shown. She added that she was “saddened to be getting shit for being a no-show”.
Following that, Furler tweeted to her fans offering an Aria statue in exchange for a “good deed”. Among those responding were singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran, who requested one simply for being “overweight”.
The four awards went to UK radio producer Wayne B, who pledged to spend Christmas feeding the homeless, a superfan going by the name Queen Sia Furler, a Memphis-based marketing director and community volunteer named Jaques and shop worker Larry Baker Jr from Orlando, who donated his staff discount to a customer buying a gift. Baker in turn gave his to a fan named Josh.
