Unfathomable Ruination previously took part in the art performance
Death metal band Abhorrent Decimation will take part in an experimental art piece that will see them play in a hermetically sealed box until the air runs out.
The performance, created by Portuguese artist João Onofre and entitled ‘Box sized DIE’ will take place tomorrow (November 27) outside the Gherkin in London from 6pm. The piece will see the band play in a cramped steel cube which will be sealed and soundproofed; the band will continue to play until the oxygen inside runs out.
The piece was previously performed by metal band Unfathomable Ruination throughout July in the same space. Abhorrent Decimation will reprise the event with this one-off performance.
In a statement about the piece. Onofre stated, “The performance’s duration is limited to the length of time in which oxygen is expended. Outside the cube, viewers observe its strange vibrations, only viewing the band’s entrance and exit to the performance space.”
Abhorrent Decimation, meanwhile, have said that they are “delighted” to step in to the performance for one night.
The five-piece hail from London and released their debut EP ‘Infected Celestial Utopia’ in 2013.
