Metallica to headline Reading and Leeds 2015, Jamie T and Run The Jewels also on the bill

First headliner and acts confirmed for next year's event

Metallica, Jamie T and Run The Jewels are among the first names confirmed to perform at next year’s Reading and Leeds Festivals.

Organisers today (November 25) confirmed the US metal legends will headline the Main Stage at the event in 2015, their first time at the festival since topping the bill in 2008.

Also appearing next year is Jamie T, who made a surprise appearance on the Reading site this year, playing a secret show to a packed tent.

In addition, Run The Jewels, Refused, Manchester Orchestra, Pierce The Veil, and Wilkinson are also confirmed.

The Reading and Leeds Festivals 2014 were headlined by Arctic Monkeys, Blink-182, Paramore and Queens Of The Stone Age.

Earlier this year Oasis topped a poll of which bands NME readers would like to headline Reading & Leeds next year – despite the fact that the band are not presently together. Metallica’s Lars Ulrich would no doubt approve – he recently spoke about his love of Oasis, saying the band “has been the soundtrack to my life for the last 20 years”.

NME readers last year voted for Arctic Monkeys to headline Reading and Leeds 2014 – and their wish came true.

Metallica headlined this year’s Glastonbury festival, turning in a performance that was viewed as a triumph for heavy metal.
