The recently reunited Sleater-Kinney make their first UK appearance in 10 years at the event.

As confirmed by Lauren Laverne via a special broadcast from Newcastle University Student Union, gigs will take place across three nights from Friday, February 20 to Sunday, February 22 at The O2 Academy Newcastle (Friday) and The Sage Gateshead (Saturday and Sunday).

Additionally, there will be a 6 Music Festival by Day (which will be ticketed separately to the night-time events) in venues in The Ouseburn and Stephenson Quarter areas of the city.

Lauren Laverne said: “I’m so excited that this year’s 6 Music Festival is taking us back to my home in the Northeast. It’s going to be an incredible weekend of music, not to be missed. The Festival is a celebration of the music and culture we and our listeners love so much.”

The first ever 6 Music Festival took place in 2014 in Manchester.
