Music world reacts to Ferguson grand jury verdict and subsequent violence

Pharrell, Tom Morello and Macklemore comment on situation while Q-Tip takes to the streets in protest

A number of artists from the music world have reacted to the news from America that the police officer in Ferguson who shot and killed an unarmed teenager will face no further punishment.

A grand jury in the St Louis county ruled that Darren Wilson will not be indicted for killing Michael Brown in August of this year. The decision was met with outrage by many online, including artists such as Questlove, Tom Morello of Rage Against The Machine (pictured above) and Pharrell Williams.

The Guardian reports that there was looting in Ferguson after the announcement by St Louis County prosecuting attorney Bob McCulloch, and windows were broken at shops near the Ferguson police department. Many artists tweets responded to this violence, while rapper Q-Tip posted pictures of himself protesting on the streets of New York.
