Adult website Pornhub launches own record label with search for official anthem

Spokesperson for X-rated website says "big name musicians" are in talks to judge the contest

Adult entertainment website Pornhub has launched its own record label, Pornhub Records.

The team behind Pornhub has made a number of attempts at moving into the music industry in the last few months, including a collaboration with Coolio in July.

Pornhub Records, report Billboard, launched yesterday (September 24) with a search for a Pornhub anthem. The winner will receive £3000 towards a music video which will then be featured on Pornhub.tv.

Matt Blake, head of PR and marketing for Pornhub, states that the company are in talks with “big-name” musicians to judge the contest and that the eventual winner will have their video viewed a minimum of 500,000 times by users of the website. However, the winner of the contest will not be signed to Pornhub Records.

Blake explained a little about what the people at Pornhub are hoping for in their potential anthem. “We’re looking for acts that aren’t necessarily porn-focused,” he said. “We’re an ad-based network looking for content that appeals to our demographic. Mature lyrics for an adult audience; no boy bands or teen-pop, for instance.”

There has already been interest in the project. “Producers, music technicians, everyone in the business you could imagine,” he adds. “There’s erotic folk, rap, country – everybody has come to us.”

In addition to Coolio, electronic producer FaltyDL debuted the video for his ‘Some Jazz Shit’ single on Pornhub while Xiu Xiu did the same thing with the video for his ‘Black Dick’ video.
