There will be no new entries in the Top 40 singles chart this week

But Blink-182 are set for their first No 1 album

It appears there will be no new entries at all in the Top 40 singles chart this week.

Since streaming was introduced towards counting towards the singles chart in June 2014, the number of new entries has steadily declined.

With fewer songs staying longer in the chart, it has also meant songs stay longer at No 1, with Drake having been No 1 for the past 12 weeks with ‘One Dance’.

However, having no new entries at all usually only happens in the week after the Christmas chart, when no new singles are released.

Artists who once would have been expected to chart with new singles out this week include Years And Years, Demi Lovato, Fergie and Stooshe. David Brent and Biffy Clyro have also released new singles, but as these are free downloads, they don’t count towards compilers Official Charts Company’s charts.

Following its release on CD and 7”, The Stone Roses’ comeback single ‘All For One’ is set to re-enter at No 33, but this has already charted, having reached No 21 in May.

Kungs Vs Cookin’ On 3 Burners’ could end Drake’s 12-week run at No 1, as ‘That Girl’ is 4,000 sales ahead of ‘One Dance. But that’s been the case for the last three weeks in official midweek sales.

The official midweek charts also show that Blink-182 are set for their first No 1 album, with ‘California’ selling 17,000 copies since Friday – more than the rest of the Top Three combined.

Bat For Lashes is the next highest new entry at No 6, followed in the Top 40 by Area 11 (13), Metronomy (15), Grace (25), Eric Clapton (33) and Maxwell (37).
