New albums released today (April 7): EMA, Sohn, Todd Terje and more

Plus new music from Aloe Blacc, Avey Tare and Ratking

EMA, Sohn and Todd Terje lead this week’s list of new album releases (April 7).

Erika M. Anderson’s follow-up to her 2011 debut ‘Past Life Martyred Saints’ is released today via City Slang label. Click below to watch the self-directed video for ‘Satellites’, the first single to be taken from the new LP, which is produced by Leif Shackelford. The video, according to EMA, uses technology which is “primitive or sophisticated, depending on your point of view”.

Sohn‘s debut album ‘Tremors’ features the songs ‘The Wheel’ and ‘Bloodflows’ and is released on 4AD (Bon Iver, The National). Speaking about the album, Sohn says: “I wanted ‘Tremors’ to feel like fresh air. There’s something about the way I was working overnight on the album which found its way into the sound. Every night I worked finished with a cold sunrise and a walk home… and to me that’s what ‘Tremors’ sounds like.”

Norwegian disco producer Todd Terje releases his long awaited solo album today as well. Titled, ‘It’s Album Time’, the record features his breakout track ‘Inspector Norse’ as well as a collaboration with Bryan Ferry of Roxy Music on a cover of Robert Palmer’s ‘Johnny & Mary.’

Meanwhile, Animal Collective member Avey Tare releases his second solo album ‘Enter The Slasher House’, his follow up to the 2010 album ‘Down There’. John Frusciante also releases a new solo album. ‘Enclosure’ was launched into space on March 29 via a Cube Satellite named Sat-JF14 on the NEPTUNE Modular Rocket with fans then able to stream the album via a mobile phone app.

Elsewhere, there are new albums from chart-topper Aloe Blacc alongside The Faint, Protomartyr, SZA, OFF! and School of Language while Ratking release their debut album ‘So It Goes’.
